Lime Sherbet

This is one of my favorite ice cream treats. Tangy and sweet, cool and refreshing- and it’s even packed with gut-healing probiotics! Oh, yeah!

One of my sons was begging for the tri-colored sherbet last summer, so I set out and made all three of the sherbet recipes I’ve shared with you: Berry Sherbet, Orange Sherbet, and Lime Sherbet. If you like to have the mix, go ahead and make all three!

It’s also super fun to make with dear friends. I’ll forever have this memory of juicing and grating and then enjoying with my sweet friends here:

Loaded with fresh fruit juice, this refreshing dish helps you beat the heat and gives you a more healthy, probiotic rich alternative to store-bought sherbet.

If you don’t have kefir, just use milk in its place! It’s delicious either way! I like the tang without the sickly sweet, so I prefer 1/2 cup of sugar. You might be more of a sweet tooth, and, if so, go ahead and use 3/4 cup.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 2 Tablespoons lime zest
  • 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cup kefir
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Squeeze and zest the limes.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Pour all ingredients into ice cream maker.
  4. Let churn to desired consistency (10-20 minutes)
